This is a chance to hear extracts from two new plays by local playwrights, Rowan Padmore (Run Stanley Run) and Gaye Poole (Happy Even After). Brought alive by professional actors in an intimate setting.

 

1 hr of ‘script-in-hand’ drama plus 1 hr of discussion with the writers, director & actors.

Please note: there is no wheelchair access to the Loft.

 

Run Stanley Run

A new poetic play about bereavement and loss set in a northern seaside town. Stanley has run away from school, but will anybody notice?

Rowan Padmore is a writer and performer, a graduate of Writing for Performance at Ruskin College, Oxford and was selected for Playhouse Playmaker writers attachment scheme at Oxford Playhouse. She has written several plays including Sawdust for Hidden Spire at Arts at the Old Fire Station.

 

Happy Even After

Written from the survivors accounts of domestic abuse the play explores for ‘better or worse’ how relationships develop.

Gaye Poole co-runs Human Story Theatre and thus far has written for HST: Connie’s Colander about dementia (still touring), Flat 73 about loneliness and DRY about alcoholism. She has also written Memory Exchange (Oxford Concert Party) and 6 Women (UnderConstruction Theatre Company).
